I’ve been learning some great nature gardening tips from Carole Brown over at Ecosystem Gardening. If you’re wondering what to do with all the sticks which fall from the trees in your yard, Carole has the answer. Make a brush pile.
So, after the most recent storm, when a whole pile-worth of sticks fell down onto the grass in my garden, I made a brush pile. Now I’m enjoying the critters who visit. I made a cute rabbit video (my first ever video). I hope you enjoy Benjamin Rabbit Defends.
And for my regular readers there’s a little surprise at the end – what happened to Alison?

I love the video! I wish my wife husband would allow me to have bunnies as pets.
*grin* I’d like to think that my meagre gardening efforts are the reason for all the wildlife I see in the yard…but realistically, it’s probably the fact that my boyfriend just dragged the last big hurricane’s blow downs into a pile in the wooded area and left it there. I’ve even seen a red-tailed hawk sit in the yard and wait for a vole that probably originated inside that brush pile. They amount they add to a yard–for free! Requiring almost no effort!–is unbelievable.
