So much to write, so little time. Spring has hit Eastern Kansas and the non-native lawn grasses have greened up in the last week, despite the 6 inches or so of snow we were treated to last Saturday.
Duck, Duck, Gone…
I have three announcements, but first, something both fun and hot off the press:
I was very excited this morning to have a couple of ducks visit my back yard nature garden. They waddled around happily, male in front, for over 20 minutes. It brightened my day to be able to enjoy them through my kitchen window. Apparently they didn’t find what they were looking for, so, sadly, they left.
Now I’m wondering, what do ducks need for nesting?
Coming Up at Loving Nature’s Garden
Three quick announcements:
- I’m working on starting an LNG News newsletter. Watch this space.
- I’m taking part in sustainablog’s blogathon this coming weekend. Unlike my friends over at sustainablog, my portion will not be pedal-powered. Sorry if that disappoints. The blogathon is raising money for Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage. There are going to be give aways, including a set of three great earth themed kids books which I’m providing through my book site about fun books. Go on over and take a look at who’s in the blogathon.
- What was the third one again? Oh yes, I was recently accepted into the Society of Environmental Journalists. Exciting! This means I now have my finger on the pulse of what is happening, environment-wise. I’ll still be writing about the same things, but maybe with a few new twists.
I have lots, and lots, and lots of articles to write and share with you. Spring has me really excited, but also I’m outside digging in the dirt with less time to write. I’m working smarter.

Good luck with the newsletter – I spent a year mulling over how I would do a newsletter, because I didn’t want it to just be a rehash of what I post on the web. I’m enjoying it because I have a bit more latitude in topics, with the newsletter.
I miss ducks! We used to have pet ducks (who would invite the wild ducks, of course) on the farm.
