Squirrel has never seen snow before and he’s waiting for winter. What will he and his friends get up to as they wait to learn what snow is?
Waiting for Winter by Sebastian Meschenmoser is an absolutely charming picture story book. Who can resist a cute, red squirrel, a spiky hedgehog, and their friend bear? Backyard animals, or not, they are part of nature and they are adorable.
You don’t have to take my word for it though. Here’s what Elizabeth Bird at School and Library Review had to say about it:
“My reviewing process is very neat and orderly. As I read books I place them on my To Be Read shelf, where they are cataloged by those most likely to get a review to those least likely. Everything has its place. Some titles wait months before I get to them. But once in a great while, if I’m lucky, I run across a book so spectacular that I have to review it immediately. Waiting for Winter was that book.”
So, if you’re looking for a great read-aloud book as we wait for winter, seeking a winter gift for a preschooler, just love picture book illustrations, or can’t resist a squirrel, take a look at Waiting for Winter.
