I brought a copy of this book into my home a few weeks back just to fulfill my curiosity. I was really curious about how bird songs with piano accompaniment would sound. I thought I might like it, but I wasn’t prepared to LOVE it!
I put the CD on one lunchtime as my family sat down to eat. I’ve tried music at the dinner table before, but since we like to chat during meals it’s always been a no-go. The CD though is a mixture of birdsong tracks and tracks with piano and birdsong together. I thought the birdsong tracks might not be too distracting.
I was waiting to hear, “Let’s put that off!” when instead I heard, “That’s really nice.” This, from my husband who pays little attention to this kind of thing, counts as VERY high praise.
Now I find my heart and soul uplifted without fail every time I put on the Sing, Nightingale, Sing CD. It’s a little trip around the world, with a stop off in Europe, to hear some of the most beautiful sounds nature has to offer. The book is very nice too, with little details about each bird – what they look like, where they live, and what they eat.
This book isn’t just for kids. I wholeheartedly recommend it!
