You may have heard of The White House Garden and Michelle Obama planting and harvesting vegetables with local school kids. But have you heard about the Who Farm Bus? And what has this all to do with a queen?
The story goes something like this. During the 2008 Presidential Campaign Daniel Bowman Simon and Casey Gustowarow, The WhoFarmers, set off across America in a very strange looking, yellow, school, bus-on-top-of-a-bus. They had planted a farm on top of their upside down bus and their mission was to campaign for the 44th president of these United States of America to plant a vegetable garden on the White House Lawn. Now they weren’t the only players by any means to got involved and lead to the design and planting of a White House garden. In fact that was the whole point.
What I love most about the whole Who Farm project, apart from the really cute bus, is the fact that they focused on involving children. Now The Who Farm are inviting children to write and thank Michelle Obama for planting the White House Garden. The link I’ve just given you shows all about the whole Who Farm project, with great pictures which your kids can enjoy. Maybe they’d like to write to our First Lady. For more information about the White House Kitchen Garden and what is growing there, with more great photos, see the Who Bus FAQ page.
I’ve not forgotten to explain the queen. This week Ecorazzi, the apparent place to go for green gossip, started speculation that Queen Elizabeth II planted a garden in emulation of Michelle Obama. Whether there is truth to the gossip or not, it’s a good story and I’m glad to hear that veggie garden planting is spreading. Here’s to wonderful, sustainable, tasty, healthy, veggies straight from the garden!

I didn't know Mrs Queen had got into veggie gardening, tho I did watch the Chelsea Flower Show and saw her graciously doing the rounds of the exhibits.
