Google’s doodle contest is up for voting until Monday, May 18th. There are several nature doodles to look at – I think you will enjoy them. You can see all of the doodles at the Doodle4Google voting page.
If you are not familiar with the Doodle 4 Google contest, the entries are submitted by children in grades K through 12. You will be voting to choose the 4 national finalists from the 40 regional winners. The art and ideas really are outstanding. Here are some great nature themed entries to look for:
- Grades K-3 region 3 – by Grace Para, age 8 – save the environment.
- Grades K-3 region 6 – by Jackie Tian, age 6 – animal friends are gifts from Mother Nature.
- Grades 4-6 region 2 – by Courtney Bodine, age 11 – endangered species matter.
- Grades 4-6 region 2 – by Maddi Barness, age 10 – wildlife forever.
- Grades 7-9 region 1 – by Deldar Golchehren, age 13 – help endangered animals.
- Grades 7-9 region 3 – by Elizabeth Keto, age 13 – cleaner oceans for the world.
- Grades 7-9 region 5 – by Blakely Linz, age 13 – stop to smell the flowers.
Did you vote? Which one is your favorite? I work every day to remember to stop and smell the flowers. Did you visit with nature today?

I visited very personally with my garden today. It got tilled, raked, re-raked (with a different rake), got a new set of 3 wood trellises put in, and got laid out for planting later this week. It will also be fenced later this week. Whew! When I visit with the garden, I mean business!
Ruralmama, I’m so glad for you that your garden was ready to be worked. Is there more work today, or are you taking a rest?
