Best of Amazon.com For Earth Day

Earth Day may be over, but caring for the Earth can happen every day of the year. Below are my top 10 Earth-friendly picks from Amazon.com.

#1 – Planet Earth, the complete BBC series – I’m ashamed to say that I’ve not yet watched this series. However, it’s a “must not miss” – BBC, nature, you get the picture… I think you’ll be extremely happy with your purchase.

#2 – The Lorax by Dr Seuss – kids love Dr Seuss. What could be better than Dr Seuss and caring about the environment combined?

#3 – 50 Simple Things You Can Do to Save the Earth – practical, informative, inspiring. The one book you need to figure out your part in creating positive change. And it’s great value!

#4 – Tree Free Eco-journal – every creative person needs a journal. This one is made in the USA from waste from the sugar refineries. A sweet combination and very affordable.

#5 – Massage for Infants – massage really produces some amazing benefits for infant development. Every item I’ve ever seen from Gaiam has been high quality and well designed. This DVD could be a priceless gift for a friend or family member.

#6 – Green Osprey Daypack – whether you like a nature jaunt in the countryside or to hike or bike within the city, you can’t be without a daypack. The main parts of the Green Osprey Daypack are made from 100% recycled PET. A quality, sturdy backpack is such a reusable investment which will last for years.

#7 – Simple Shoes – I’ve been looking for some eco-friendly and comfortable shoes. This collection from Simple Shoes are the nicest I’ve seen. Made from recycled materials, with some pairs selling for under $30, I suggest you take a look.

#8 – EcoArt for Kids – Laurie Carlson writes wonderful, educational and fun craft books for kids. This one is for ages 3-12 and covers everything from art with natural materials and recyled stuff to building birdhouses and making compost. What more could a parent need for Earth Day activities all year?

#9 – Everything Kids Environment Book – the Everything Kids books are straightforward and essential how-to books for your home library shelf. This one is just perfect for getting 9-12 year old kids thinking about, and more importantly active, in taking care of the environment.

#10 – Bird of Prey Rescue – I’ve got a soft spot for birds and I couldn’t finish my list without mentioning a book about them. Whether you want to better understand bird biology, explore bird rescue, or simply study some great photos, at the current price of $9.95 this book is a steal!

I hope you enjoyed Earth Day 2009. Do let me know if you have an Earth related book, website, or event you’d like to share.

    Alison,

We have the Planet Earth DVDs. They are very good! We have watched them over and over. We’ve watched alot of such shows and have never seen such incredible cinematography.

Thanks for the recommendation for Simple Shoes. Buying shoes for kids is frustating. They’re all fluff and no function!

    Love, Wardeh

Wardeh, I’d not realized that there were kids shoes available. Even better, thanks for pointing that out! Some of the kids shoes cost over $40 but they do have some styles for under $20.
