It’s so beautiful here – I need to get outside and plant seeds. Before I go, here are 10 simple Earth Day ideas for you and your family:
- Discover a local edible wild plant to eat.
- Pack a picnic and head out to eat.
- Enjoy Earth themed songs and poems around a campfire.
- Start planning a camping trip for this year.
- Ask each family member to share about their favorite place on Earth and their favorite food. Think about where that food came from and who grew it.
- Pledge to improve in one thing like reducing the packaged items you buy, composting your kitchen waste, or picking up trash every time you see it.
- Cook an item from scratch and take it to a neighbor.
- Lie outside and look up at the sky.
- Get down low and look for bugs on the ground.
- Find a new nature spot to love.
Have a wonderful Earth Day. I’d love to hear your stories!

Were you hungry when you wrote this list? (wink) There’s a whole lot of food-related items in it.
Good ideas!
Yes we’re doing quite a few of those ourselves, but indoors because of the 95 degree heat! Oh yes global warming in April.
Cheers
LOL! No, I wasn’t hungry Ruralmama. I just can’t think about the Earth without thinking of food. What could be better than a fresh salad straight-picked from the earth, food roasted over an outdoor fire, or a picnic under a tree somewhere?
Ouch Maddy, I’ll have to look up where you live. My outdoor thermometer over the deck reads 95 this afternoon too, but that’s not the real outdoor temperature, thank goodness! I remember doing an Earth Day walk at the Kansas City Zoo one year and being absolutely melted. Heat in April happens!
Great ideas -I love it!! Beautiful day here to get outside!!
Stopping in from 31dbbb!! Will be coming by again!!

Great ideas! I’m planning a camping trip for our team, and love the picnic idea. I’m going to have to add that to my list!
I love camping, at least I used to until… but that’s a story for another time. I hope you have a great camping trip MLDina.
